Fashion Saturday hit Westfield’s in Sydney on March 1, offering a staggering amount of sales for the upcoming Autumn collection in stores with clothing, accessories and shoes to celebrate Australia Weekend Fashion Launch 2014.

After receiving the newsletter from Westfield Hornsby about the individual styling sessions, I emailed the marketing department to secure a place.

To be honest, I didn’t have anything prepared or even have a vague idea of what he stylishness going to talk about so I arrived a bit early to check out the set up in front of David Jones.

Cherry blossoms were the theme for Autumn this year and the dresses were styled accordingly. Pretty.

There was a lot of advertising around Westfield for this occasion but you’ll need to register online via email beforehand. Otherwise, see the concierge for more booking information. The wet weather racked up a few free spaces.

Bridie first asked what I was looking for in this session. I found out hat these sessions are for people who may have had a body shape change, for example if you had a baby recently, or if your ageing, growing, lost or gained a bit of weight recently, this would be perfect for you. She has children herself.

Everyone needs their basics and Bridie is the one to help you discover what you like. Looking at my figure, she noticed that I should wear more high waisted pants and shirts, and maybe wear tops and blazers that give shape to my shoulders.

It was great because her job was to look at all the stores at Westfield Hornsby, see what kind of clothes they have, and matching it with people with similar styles. She recommended Witchery, Country Road and Jeans West for me.

It was a quick 15 minute session but we also discussed a lot about fashion or and events at Westfield. In some ways, it was great making that connection and knowing what he basics in a normal wardrobe. I guess mine is full of clothes bought overseas so I have all the funky baggy pants, exotic dresses and random tops and nothing structured.

Hornsby Westfield also offers hour long sessions where you go to different stores and personally help you choose clothes. That might’ve been more hands on and fun but I didn’t have enough time.

Samantha Jade also performed live in a tent in the pouring rain.

Product (Free individual styling sessions at Westfield Hornsby): =)

Ambience: =)

Value: =)

Would I go to a free styling session again? I feel like I’m going through the an hour of a makeover day on The Biggest Loser. If you’re going through a body change then this would be perfect for you. Normally I don’t really pay much attention to my body shape so this was quite useful and get to know which basics I should have.

Would I donate money to go to a styling session? I don’t really know how much these usually cost? Anyway, if you have fashionable friends then they could probably do the job too. A gold coin donation wouldn’t hurt.

Highlight: talking with Bridie was pretty good and seeing her perspectives and wanting to help people like what they like. You could how much research she had done knowing all the different styles of clothes and from which stores.

Suggestion of improvement: there were a few people approaching us and asking if there were any extra places. Eventually someone did come and help those who wanted a session out. Perhaps a help desk close by would’ve been more ideal.

Ends: Saturday March 1, 2014 but should happen at the start of every season.
