Choose between battered, Angus steak, chicken schnitzel, salt and pepper calamari either with chips or salad, or linguini for $13 only at Nick’s Bar and Grill King Street Wharf this summer.
“Nicks Bar and Grill is located on the waters edge of King Street Wharf. The large open plan alfresco restaurant seating up to 500 people is the perfect canvas for any occasion.”
What better way to show my French family around Sydney by having a fresh summer meal in front of the harbour.
Located close to Sydney Aquarium, Nicks Bar and Grill is a red and white themed modern yet simple place for some cheap fine dining.
After calling and booking a table for 9 (bookings must be made in advance for 10 people or less to redeem the $13 deal), we were seated at a table with the essentials.
Thankfully they gave us water and the waiters were excellent. We added a bit of humour with my French mum’s extreme friendliness. ‘Bonjour Monsieur!’ ‘Comment ca va.’ ‘Merci beaucoup et au revoir!’
Almost half of us ordered I’m Angus Steak. It was cooked really nicely and not a piece of meat was left on our plates!
Mum and dad got the fish and chips. I was surprised with the generosity of 2 pieces of fish. Definitely the one to get because the fish was deep fried to perfection. Not too crunch and not too soft.
My brothers schnitzel was shaped in a heart shape which was cute. Again, this was pretty good and lightly seasoned and wasn’t too dry either with a thin crumble.
My linguini was pretty amazing actually. I love hard pasta. Apparently it makes you full for longer and better digestion. Anyway, the sausages were full of flavour and the portion size was perfect. Yum!
There was nothing special about the chips. After 2 chips I was done and a bit disappointed with the garlic sauce. To me it looked like butter and I’m not a fan of butter…
We also ordered a bottle of Monterose, Mudgee $40- fabulous. Of course we needed a bottle to celebrate their first official day in Australia!
Definitely the cheapest and best place to go for that seaside lunch! Everywhere else had $14+ meals. I did my research.
Other specials include:
Please note this deal is only available at Nick’s Bar and Grill King Street Wharf, not Nick’s Seafood restaurant Darling Harbour.

Product (Nick’s Bar and Grill Summer Deals): =)
Would I eat a summer deal every time I go to King Street Wharf? I think this would be my second choice. It really depends what I feel like. Cargo Bar does $10 rump steak with chips and salad Monday – Wednesday but if you have a late lunch at Nicks, there are $5 wine, beer and house spirits from 3-6pm. You might just want to extend your stay…
Would I pay full price for the meals? To be honest the chips were not up to our standards so order the massive salad you get when they ask. If each meal was around $15 I wouldn’t mind going once because the restaurants around Darling Harbour and King Street Wharf would charge around $20+ and $15 would still be slightly cheaper. Other restaurants also have deals around the $15 mark. Casa di Nico, offers $14 lunch specials next doors.
Highlight: sitting outside in the shade was nice. We weren’t burning in the sun and we weren’t seated indoors. There were massive red umbrellas and that icy water that came was much needed. The waiters were very good as well, going with the French humour.
Suggestion of Improvement: it would be nice to get that crunch on the hot chips. We accidentally ordered an extra bowl of chips which worked out to be around $6 and in my opinion, it wasn’t even touched. That extra chicken salt, or even formulating a good garlic sauce would compliment the chips. We had to ask for tomato sauce and mustard. There were lots of plants instead of the wharf view as well, but then again, not everyone can have that picture perfect table, right?
Ends: Manager at the time said this will go on for the whole year unless head management says.
